Since April, Chicagoans united to support our restaurant, essential workers, and gig economy workers through the COVID-19 crisis.

Meals for Chicago was started as a way of uniting diners, restaurants, and essential workers. Donations to Meals for Chicago will be funneled towards bulk orders from restaurants affected by mandated closures and will be used to feed and nourish essential workers on the frontlines who are keeping our city safe and healthy in the fight against COVID-19.

Meals for Chicago was started by two Chicagoans, Jasmine Truong and Victoria Li, who were looking to help their community during these trying times.

Update: With restaurants, stores, and other organizations re-opening, we have decided to sunset Meals for Chicago. We are extremely proud of what we accomplished together and to those who shared our story and contributed financially.

Although we are in phase 4, we are still living with the pandemic. Please continue to support local organizations and businesses as Chicago continues to fight the pandemic.

We made a

difference together

Meals for Chicago was launched in April when we were beginning to grapple with how to deal with the effects of the pandemic on our community. 4 months since then, Meals for Chicago has:
Thanked and celebrated +300 essential employees in neighborhoods all over the city
Supported 9 local, small-business restaurants
...all by raising nearly $3K from diners and supporters all over the city and beyond!
Thank you to our contributors for their support and proving that while we need to social distance, we can still be there for our community in other ways.
